"Part Peyton Place, part Harlequin Romance and part Twilight Zone...you just can't make this stuff up. Linda and Ray's journey in search of love and family makes for an inspiring, engrossing and ultimately satisfying read. A story both heart warming and life affirming with more twists than a Chubby Checker album. You will fall in love." - Bob Segarini www.fyimusic.ca

"Next up is First True Love, a 200+ page autobiography that details everything from their teen romance to the many lost years and eventual reunion in their home town." - Brian Kelly, The Sault Star

What Our Readers Say

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your book. Couldn't put it down in the midst of babysitting my grandkids. Thankfully I started reading after they went to bed for the night and only required one hour of cartoons to finish it in the morning. They were so patient with Nannie!!!! It's a great read and I highly recommend it to all who've been touched by adoption. You and Ray have certainly had one heck of an exciting life over the years. True love has indeed brought you all back together again. Thanks so much for writing the story!!!!! - Ev

What an emotional read! Congratulations for having the courage to put it into print. It's truly reflective of the era. - William J F, Sault Ste Marie

Writing the Book

After snuggling down in the winter of 2006, they felt 18 again. With different careers yet familiar divorces, they questioned their past relationships. Wanting to know if they had changed much, Ray dug out an unpublished manuscript, Broken Wings in Paradise, about his flying and sailing escapades in the Caribbean.
"There, this is where I've been. This is what I've done. I put it on paper."

But when it came down to past relationships...that was another story that required full disclosure. The gauntlet was dropped and they decided to combine their individual careers and history. The first draft in 2007 ended up an epic of 250,000 words! That's when they realized the real story was about why they reunited and their daughter. After many re-writes, they eventually wrote the condensed fifth edition...to tell their daughter who they are. "If we only publish one copy, we'll give it to our daughter, if we find her."

With Linda's mother being the only surviving parent, discovering the truth meant resolving their past relationship in high school. "What the hell happened to us?" When secret meetings and agendas of their parents were eventually revealed, the missing pieces of the puzzle were discovered.  "Being totally honest wasn't easy but worth a billion dollars of therapy!"

After 4 years of re-writes, revisions and finally finding the perfect editor, Rod Denley, (former high school classmate) the book was released in a limited edition in October, 2010.

"This story is wrapped around a warm and fuzzy ending but takes you where you don't want to go. It's about sex, secrets and serendipity."
