About the Authors - Linda Dawe

Born in Belleville to Gordon & Margaret Dawe, Linda grew up in Sault Ste Marie, always trying to run away from home.

When pregnant at seventeen, she was "sent away" to a Salvation Army home in Toronto. Forced to surrender her daughter, Melanie, to the Children's Aid Society, Linda vowed that nobody would control her again. In 1970 she left the "Soo" on a greyhound bus with "$65 and a high school gym bag" for Toronto, vowing to never return to the "scene of the crime."

After a brief stint as a journalist with Beetle Magazine, she graduated to promotion rep with the record labels CBS, MCA and RCA. As a woman, she "hit the glass ceiling" in 1980 and left the corporate game to start her own music promotion company. For the rest of her career bio visit

After nearly four decades in the music biz, Linda Dawe still enjoys promoting new artists and working with her songwriter husband & high school sweetheart, Raymond Cave.

About the Authors - Raymond Cave

Born in Toronto as George Barnaby Quilty, Ray was officially adopted by Erwood and Beatrice Cave in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
His parent's life centered around his interests like hockey, accordion lessons, racing Chevys and the lead singer for the rock-n-roll  band, "The Dimensions."

When he was not allowed to marry Linda, Ray joined General Motors in 1967, eventually earning a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering degree in 1972 from General Motors Institute (Kettering University).

After two decades as an engineer with General Motors, Algoma Steel, Alex Harvey Industries (New Zealand) and DeHavilland Aircraft, he gave up the corporate game and became a commercial pilot. His flying and sailing escapades in the Caribbean are another story. During one 3-year period in BVI, "Capt'n Cave" lived alone on his sailboat.

For the last 20 years he's been an airline pilot, a sailor, singing for supper from Key West to Nashville to Sault Ste Marie.

Ray's only claim to fame is finally finding his first true love, "THE Linda" he should have married in high school.
